Testing
What is testing?
Testing determines one or more characteristics of a certain product, service or process according to a specified procedure or technical requirement. UL specializes in serving the electrical and electronic related industries as well as industrial and commercial sectors. These sectors cover:
- IT and telecom equipment
- Consumer electronics
- Medical and laboratory equipment
- Industrial control components
- Motors
- Wires and cables
- Lighting
- Household and commercial appliances
While we maintain extensive state of art facilities for testing, it is also possible to utilise your own test facilities for testing of products. You can benefit from our special client interactive programs where we assist manufacturers to achieve fast and cost saving certification of products.
Witness Test Data Program
Your staff conduct testing at your test facilities and we supervise and witness the testing. All you need are the physical resources, the equipment and the qualified staff to conduct such testing. Our UL engineers review the adequacy of the facilities and oversee the performance of the tests and recording of data.
Client Test Data Program
Tests are conducted at your facilities. We determine and assess an adequate laboratory quality program for the performance of the testing. We utilise the generated test data for review and audit. Before we can accept the data, an assessment is made of the test facilities and the test data generated need to be verified. After the program is established, the facilities are periodically re-assessed. All data submitted is thoroughly reviewed and audited.
Compliance Management and Product Assurance Program
This program allows greater involvement of your personnel in the product certification process. You have the option of conducting much of the investigations for product modifications yourself. You can provide us with test results and documentation for review and audit.
Total Certification Program
This is an interactive, system-driven program which integrates certification activities with the product development and manufacturing processes. It combines your capabilities with our efforts in the areas of standards interpretation and product development and testing under a quality assurance system.
