The role of the Electrical Council

Click here for Council Members Only

The Electrical Council was formed in 1915 to advise UL on safety requirements for electrical appliances, utilization equipment, construction equipment, and materials. The Council also provides advice on the requirements for the installation of electrical equipment for hazardous locations and fire protection. Council members provide input regarding the development and maintenance of UL Standards for Safety, installation and use of UL certified products, investigations of innovative products, and UL's conformity assessment services.

Electrical Council members are leaders in their professions, and their work has distinguished them as being highly competent and knowledgeable in their fields. They provide UL with substantial experience in sound engineering practices, practical judgment, field practices and conformity assessment expertise.
