The Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) of Taiwan has drafted a regulation intended for labeling of food products. The draft is entitled as Draft Regulations Governing the Labelling of Food Products Sold by Vending Machines.

The labeling regulation specifies the following:

  • Prepackaged food
    • The labels on such prepackaged products shall follow Article 22 of the Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation and its relevant Regulations.
  • Bulk food
    • product name
    • name of the ingredients and food additives
    • name, telephone number, address and registration number of the manufacturer or that of the responsible domestic company
    • country of origin
    • expiry date
    • allergen
    • genetically modified food raw materials
    • restructured meat products
  • Food meals for vending machines: 
    • product name
    • name of the ingredients and food additives
    • name, telephone number, address and registration number of the manufacturer or that of the responsible domestic company
    • country of origin
    • allergen
    • genetically modified food raw materials
    • restructured meat products

A public consultation is open for the draft until May 12, 2017. A proposed date of enforcement is given as July 1, 2017.
