Standards Australia has released the standard ‘AS 5013.5:2016 Food Microbiology — Microbiology of the Food Chain — Horizontal Method for the Enumeration of Microorganisms — Colony Count at 30 °C by the Pour Plate Technique.’
The standard, which supersedes the 2004 version, establishes a horizontal method for listing microorganisms that are able to grow and form colonies in a solid medium after aerobic incubation at 30 °C.
It applies to the following:
- products intended for human consumption and for animal feed
- environmental samples in the area of food and feed production and handling
It was released on November 30, 2016.
