The Public Health England (PHE) of UK has issued sugar reduction guidance for industry in Northern Ireland. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has accepted this.

The guidance document describes the approaches needed to take to reduce the net amount of sugar children consume through everyday food. The document also recommends sugar limits for nine food groups including biscuits, breakfast cereals and yogurt, as well as how the reductions could be achieved by the food industry.

The guidance document was released on March 30, 2017.
