New Zealand’s leading manufacturer and exporter of natural health products is urging the government to drop the Natural Health Products Bill permanently because online ordering has overtaken the proposed legislation.

Graeme Clegg, chairman of New Image Group, believes that existing regulations in New Zealand provide significant consumer protection and, with minor adjustments, could allow more flexibility without the costs that would result from the proposed legislation. Clegg says this has been done for fortified foods and extending this to dietary supplements would be a far more practical regulatory solution.
