The Official Journal of the French Republic issued Order suspending the placing on the market puzzle toys with formamide on December 9, 2016.

The decree announces the extension of its interim restriction of formamide in toy puzzle mats until May 23, 2017. The decree extends the formamide limit of no more than 200 mg/kg for puzzle mats.

The interim restriction was first made in 2011.

The restriction will ban the use of formamide above the limit in toy puzzle mats in accordance with the European Toy Safety Directive beginning on May 24, 2017.
