The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has published a final rule that amends the Indirect Food Additive Regulations.

Effective May 4, 2017, the rule amends the food additive regulations to no longer provide for the use of potassium perchlorate as an additive in closure-sealing gaskets for food containers, because this use has been abandoned.

.The FDA accepted objections and requests for hearings until June 5, 2017.
