The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) has released EN 1811:2011+A1:2015, amending the test method EN 1811:2011 “Reference test method for release of nickel from all post assemblies which are inserted into pierced parts of the human body and articles intended to come into direct and prolonged contact with the skin”.
The new amendment EN 1811:2011 + A1:2015 includes an interpretation of results that is different from the original version, and in which results previously classified as inconclusive can now be rated. However, the EN 1811:2011+A1:2015 has not yet been published in the European Official Journal and therefore the compliance with REACH, Annex XVII, entry 27 will be assessed using this Standard only once this publication will be available.
We will keep you updated regarding the adoption of the amended Standards EN 1811:2011 + A1:2015 in the Official Journal of European Commission.
