CPSC Recalls Box Fans

CPSC announced the recall of 4.8 million box fans. The recall indicates that an electrical failure in the fan's motor poses a fire hazard. Lasko has received seven reports of fire including three that resulted in extensive property damage. No injuries have been reported.

The recall indicates that the fans were manufactured in the United States 2002-2005 for Lasko Products, Inc. CPSC informed us that the recalled fans are provided with the UL and cUL Listing Marks, based on a preliminary review of our records it does not appear that the recalled fans are currently eligible to bear the UL Mark.

The recall can be viewed at: www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml11/11183.html
