Compliance system overview
The compliance system in Brazil is primarily voluntary with the exception of a limited number of product categories requiring third party certification. Brazilian standards are primarily modeled after IEC/ISO standards. The use of Brazilian or International standards is recommended.
INMETRO Certification
UL currently assists Brazilian clients as well as clients from around the world in obtaining certification in Brazil.
ANATEL Mandatory Certification
Manufacturers of Telecommunications Equipment located in Brazil or who export to Brazil should verify if their products require mandatory certification. UL can assist in obtaining this information at ANATEL (National Telecommunication Agency). ANATEL provides the specific criteria, rules and standards.
UL testing services
Instituto Nacional de Metrologia, Normalização e Qualidade Industrial (INMETRO) is the accrediting body organization in Brazil. UL affiliates can assist companies enter this market place.
