Auckland laboratory history
The Auckland division of UL International New Zealand Limited was formerly Wakefield Laboratories Ltd; and was formed in 1966 as the first third party, independent electrical test facility in New Zealand.
Throughout its history, Wakefield Laboratories Limited provided independent testing services across a wide scope of disciplines, narrowing its focus to electrical and electronic product assessment during the last decade. Wakefield Laboratories maintained a wide scope of IANZ accreditation and gained international recognition as a CB Test laboratory in 1992.
Wakefield Laboratories became part of the UL family of companies in November 2008.
