Relocatable Power Taps (RPTs) intended for use with
medical equipment as defined by Article 517 of the National Electrical Code for Health Care
Facilities shall comply with the requirements of the Standard for Safety of Medical Electrical
Equipment, Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60601-1 and the Standard for Safety Requirements
for Medical Electrical Systems, IEC 60601-1-1.
RPTs that incorporate a molded-on or assembled-on hospital grade attachment plug or receptacles
shall provide with an additional cautionary marking both on the RPT and in the instructions, packaging, or
other literature accompanying the RPT. |

Electric Flatirons, 4th Edition |
Flatirons with water reservoirs are required to be subject to a drop test with the reservoir filled.
This will require a retest of all presently Listed
flatirons employing reservoirs. |

Household Fire Warning System Units, 5th Edition |
Requirements added for separation of power-limited circuits from non-power-limited System Units, 5th
Edition circuits in order to correlate with the
requirements of Article 760 of the 2002 National
Electrical Code (NEC). While no testing will be
necessary, a review of the products and/or
installation instructions will be required.
Revised the Audibility Test to specify measurement
in a reverberant room, which has been qualified for
pure tones under either Precision Methods for the
Determination of Sound Power Levels of Broad-Band
Noise Sources in Reverberation Rooms, ANSI S12.31,
or Precision Methods for the Determination of Sound
Power Levels of Discrete-Frequency and Narrow-
Band Noise Sources in Reverberation Rooms, ANSI
S12.32. This is consistent with the test methods used
in UL 1023 and UL 294. The revision will require
a review and retest of some alarm sounding devices
used in household fire warning system units. |

Terminal Blocks, 4th Edition |
Terminal blocks that had previously been temperature size larger than what would have
been selected based on the assigned ampere rating
of the terminal block will need to be re-tested with the
smaller wire size. Table 11.1 of UL 1059 has been
revised to address allowable temperature rises for
fuse type terminal blocks. Different temperature rises
for bus, straps, fuse clips and connectors are
specified, depending upon if the fuse type terminal
block is tested with live fuses or dummy fuses. |
