Latest UL presented in Tokyo

UL Apex, UL’s wholly-owned affiliate in Japan, held an event named “Presenting the latest UL” in Tokyo, Japan on November 10. Around 200 customers attended the event to learn about UL’s latest initiatives and offerings. For example, the new portal extranet site MyHome@UL was launched by phases exclusively for UL customers. Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sajeev Jesudas reiterated UL’s commitment in engaging in initiatives that will improve speed of service and responsiveness. The latest updates of UL 60950-1 and global EMC regulations were also presented by UL’s principal engineer in that area as well as other experts.

Keith Williams elected to US-China Business Council board of directors

UL President and CEO Keith Williams has been elected to the board of directors of the United States-China Business Council (www.uschina.org), a principal organization of U.S. corporations engaged in business relations with China.

On his appointment Williams noted, “The US-China Business Council is the best resource a company could have in navigating the China market effectively, regardless of whether that company has been in China for decades or is just beginning to explore options and opportunities.”

UL anti-counterfeiting work

Nowadays, counterfeiting accounts for roughly US$500 billion annually — or about 5 to 7 percent of total world trade. To educate manufacturers, retailers and consumers on counterfeiting, UL has launched a new UL anti-counterfeiting Web site in which you will find UL’s work with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, UL’s zero tolerance policy for counterfeiting, hints and tips on spotting counterfeits, and other anti-counterfeiting resources.
