To help you comply with mandatory requirements as established by Argentine legislation, UL de Argentina S.R.L has been accredited by the OAA (Argentine Accreditation Organisation) and is recognised by the National Bureau of Domestic Trade as an official certification organisation.

Compliance System - Electrical Products

Argentina established mandatory certification through Resolution ex SICyM Nº 92/98

This resolution has been in place since August 1998 and is applicable to commercial electrical and electronic products in Argentina. The scope of its application covers all electric and electronic products that fall within the following electrical range:

UL de Argentina S.R.L. is authorised to certify all products affected by Resolution ex SICyM Nº 92/98, including:

  • Information Technology Equipment 
  • Consumer electronics equipment
  • Lighting products
  • Cables and wiring
  • Appliances
  • Industrial control equipment
  • Motors and generators
    • To view the list of electrical products exempt from Resolution ex SICyM N° 92/98 compulsory certification, click here.

      Electrical and electronic equipment designed for use below 50V with an autonomous power source (batteries) are not affected by Resolution ex SICyM Nº 92/98 requirements, with the exception of:

      • Luminaries and luminary supply systems powered by sources connected to networks above 50 Vac.
      • Diachronic lamps and their lamp holders.
      • Hand-held power tools.
      • Power supplies for electric fences.
      • Electronic muscle stimulators used for fitness activities.

      Compliance to IRAM or IEC Standards

      Resolution ex SICyM N° 92/98 requires that products comply with IRAM or IEC Standards. Test reports issued for UL certification or an IECEE CB Scheme Report certification can be used to obtain Argentine certificationEvaluations undertaken in accordance with IEC standards or UL standards harmonised with the IEC must consider national deviations such as voltage and plug requirements. Plugs must be certified by an Argentine Certification Body according to the IRAM 2063 Standard for Class 11 products and IRAM 2073 for Class I products.

      Compliance System – Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)

      Through Resolution ex SICyM Nº 896/99 Argentina can establish mandatory certification for Personal Protection Equipment, Resources and Elements.The purpose of this Resolution is to safeguard the welfare of those who work with any process, product or service in the use of protective equipment leading to reduced workplace accidents under normal and foreseeable conditions of use. UL de Argentina S.R.L. is authorised to certify the following products affected by Resolution ex SICyM Nº 896/99:
      • Safety footwear
      • Equipment used to protect the upper limbs
      • Equipment used to protect the eyes
      • Equipment used to protect the head
      For all other products, the requirement for certificates through Resolution SCT N° 55/2005 may be discontinued due to the lack of recognised laboratories.       UL and the Argentine Safety Mark

      UL can authorise manufacturers to use the DNCI (National Office of Internal Commerce) “S” Mark along-side the UL-AR de Argentina Mark.
