UL West Coast Division: San Jose
Underwriters Laboratories' Northern California office is located in San Jose's Innovation Triangle, considered the world's most prestigious high-tech address, and home to more than 1,200 of the world's best known international and multinational technology companies. UL's office is located a few minutes from San Jose International Airport, about 45 minutes south of San Francisco, the "City by the Bay," and the central location for the group of West Coast Division offices. Engineering operations provide safety certification in categories including information technology equipment, EMC, medical devices, and commercial and consumer appliances. We can also provide customized inspection and testing solutions to individual client specifications. The Silicon Valley office is the primary Division hub for testing of Information Technology Equipment and related products. Arriving by AirThe Silicon Valley office is accessible by air from a choice of three Bay Area airports. They are listed here in order of distance from the office. San Jose International Airport (SJC) is served by most major airlines and is located less than three miles south of our location. When driving from San Jose Airport, follow the signs out of the terminal for Highway 87, heading north and follow the driving directions to the office. Public transportation is available by bus or cab service outside of baggage claim. Metropolitan Oakland International Airport (OAK) is served by several major airlines and is located 30 miles northwest. When driving from Oakland Airport, take Highway 880 south (San Jose) and follow the driving directions to the office. San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is served by all major airlines. It is located 33 miles northwest. When driving from SFO, take Highway 101 south (San Jose/Los Angeles) and follow the driving directions to the office. Arriving by CarThe office address is: Parking is available around the perimeter of the building. Marked visitor parking is immediately on your right after turning into the driveway. The main lobby entrance faces Trimble Road. When driving in the Bay Area, we suggest listening to local radio traffic reports to determine whether an adjustment in travel times or an alternate route may be necessary. Although many stations provide traffic news, we recommend either KCBS (740 AM), or KLIV (1590 AM) since their reports run more frequently. From San Jose International Airport, exit the airport terminal, following the signs to SR-87 North/Guadalupe Parkway. Continue on Guadalupe Parkway, following the signs to N. First St. Turn left on N. First St. Turn right on E. Trimble Rd. and use the left lane. Make a U-turn at Junction Ave. The office is the first driveway on your right. Driving time should be about 10 minutes. Alternately from the airport, follow the signs to I-880 North (Oakland). Exit on to Montague Expressway heading west. Merge into the left lane. Turn left on to E. Trimble. UL will be on your right hand side, less than ½-mile from the Montague/Trimble intersection, just after Junction Ave. From the Northwest/Penninsula, including San Francisco International Airport, take Highway 101 south (Los Angeles) to the Trimble/De La Cruz exit. Continue on Trimble approximately 1 mile. Make a U-turn at Junction Ave. The office is the first driveway on your right. Driving time from the airport is approximately 40 to 50 minutes, depending on commute traffic. From the North/East Bay, including Metropolitan Oakland International Airport, take I-880 south (San Jose). Exit I-880 at the Montague Expressway exit, heading west (right). Once on Montague, merge into the left lane. Turn left onto East Trimble Road. Keep right. The office will be on your right hand side after about ¼-mile, immediately after the traffic light at Junction Ave. Turn right into the driveway. From the South, including downtown San Jose, both I-280 and Hwy 101 intersect with SR-87. Take SR-87 North/Guadalupe Parkway past the airport. Continue on Guadalupe Parkway, following the signs to N. First St. Turn left on N. First St. Turn right on E. Trimble Rd. and use the left lane. Make a U-turn at Junction Ave. The office is the first driveway on your right. From the East, take I-680 or I-880 to the Montague Expressway exit, heading west. Once on Montague, merge into the left lane. Turn left onto East Trimble Road.
