UL West Coast Division: Brea
Underwriters Laboratories' Southern California office is located in located in the Orange County city of Brea, about 30 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. The City of Brea was established in 1894 as an oil mining community, and grew steadily for over 90 years as companies took advantage of the city's strategic location nestled between Riverside, San Bernardino and Los Angeles Counties. UL's Brea office is the primary Division hub for testing of Pool and Spa Equipment, Gas Appliances, Lighting (Luminaires), and related products; and the southern test lab location for the collection of West Coast Division offices. Arriving by AirThe Brea office is accessible by air from a choice of three major airports, listed here in suggested order. John Wayne Airport/Orange County (SNA) is served by several major U.S. airlines and is located 20 miles south. When driving from SNA, take SR-55 North toward Anaheim/Riverside, and follow the driving directions to the office. Ontario International Airport (ONT) is a medium-hub, full-service airport with commercial jet service to major U.S. cities and through service to many international destinations. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is the primary international gateway to Asia/Pacific. LAX is served by nearly 90 passenger and cargo airlines and is located 40 miles west of the office. When driving from LAX, take I-105 east and follow the driving directions to the office. Arriving by CarThe office address is: N.B. Imperial Highway is also marked as "Highway (SR-) 90." There is another major east-west freeway marked "Highway (SR-) 91." For safety reasons, unless you are already familiar with the area, we do not recommend alternate routes unless specifically indicated below. Distances, when mentioned below, are in reference to the relevant airport and are approximate. When driving in the Los Angeles Orange County Area, we suggest listening to local radio traffic/weather reports to determine if an adjustment in travel times is necessary. Although many stations provide traffic news, we recommend KABC (790 AM). From from the south, including John Wayne Airport/Orange County, take CA-55 North towards Anaheim for 5 miles. From the right lane, take I-5 North towards Los Angeles for 4 miles. From the right lane take CA-57 North towards Pomona for 9 miles. Take the Imperial Highway Exit and turn right at the bottom of the ramp. Continue on Imperial Highway for 1 mile and make a U-turn at Saturn Street. The Saturn Business Park where UL's office is located will be on your right. Alternately, take CA-55 North to CA-91. Take CA-91 east toward Los Angeles and take the first off-ramp (Tustin Ave). Turn Right on to Tustin. Tustin changes names to Rose Ave. Continue on Rose Ave. until you reach Imperial Highway. Turn left onto Imperial Highway. The office will be on your right after you cross Saturn St. in the Saturn Business Park. From the southwest, including Ontario International Airport, take I-10 westbound to SR-57. Exit on to SR-57 toward Santa Ana. From SR-57, exit at #9/SR-90 toward Brea. Turn right onto Imperial Highway. Make a U-turn at Saturn St. The office will be on your right. From the west, including Los Angeles International Airport, take I-105 east . Exit I-105 (17mi/27km) to I-605 south. Exit I-605 (2½mi/4km) to SR-91 east. Exit SR-91 (14mi/22km) to SR-57 toward Pomona. Exit SR-57 (4mi/9km) at #9/SR-90 toward Brea. Turn right onto Imperial Highway. Make a U-turn at Saturn St. The office will be on your right.
